Born and raised in the suburbs of Minneapolis, Travis considers himself a "boomerang native". Though, beginning his sales career in Minnesota, he has considered other states "home" over the years as professional advancement opportunities arose within the medical sales field.
First was "America's Playground", Las Vegas, NV, thanks to a promotion in 2007. After four years of success (even during the financial crash of 2009), opportunity called again, and Travis headed for the coast of southern California to San Diego for two more years. And finally, after nearly seven years fine-tuning his consultative sales skills, his heart called him back home to Minnesota to tackle new challenges and expand on his natural leadership capabilities.
Now, over the past decade, Travis has enjoyed all of the unique benefits that Minnesota has to offer...from family and friends, to the lakes and cultural diversity, and everything in between.
Upon graduating High School, Travis ventured north and attended the University of Minnesota - Duluth.
While simultaneously working a full-time job, a part-time job, and an internship, Travis was able to 100% self-fund himself, and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with a major in Marketing.
This would not be the only education Travis would receive while in Duluth, however. Little did he know that his part-time job would become one of his life's passions.
At the age of 19, while on the mend from a severe arm-wrestling injury (broken humerus - upper arm), Travis found his way into a Gold's Gym searching for a job to fill the gaps between classes.
Quickly being bitten by the "iron bug", he became a student of the sport of bodybuilding, learning everything he could from his new "gym family". After recruiting a handful of gym friends, Travis set his sights on competing in his first bodybuilding competition.
After six months of grueling preparation, Travis walked away with some significant hardware, placing 3rd as a lightweight, 2nd in a collegiate division, and was also the only competitor to receive the coveted "Best Poser" Award.
After the first competitions in 2001, Travis continued his love for training and discipline, while continuing to compete many more times over the years.
From North Dakota, Minnesota, Las Vegas, and New Jersey, he's seen many stages. His biggest accomplishments were winning "Best Poser" as a Novice, placing 12th (out of 64) at ESPN's televised International Fitness America Competition, and winning 1st Place (Middleweight - 174lbs) and 2nd Overall at the NPC National Qualifier, Upper Midwest Classic.
What Travis eventually came to realize was how transferable the values needed in bodybuilding, like patience, persistency, consistency, and preparation, would be to his personal and professional life.
Spanning a 20+ year sales career, dedicated to the health and wellbeing of women, Travis had the opportunity to work and learn from titans within the medical industry. As Travis established himself as an expert within his field, using his keen ability to develop trust and rapport with clients at all levels, naturally, many awards, accolades, promotions, and recognition followed.
Over the last two decades, Travis skillfully mastered the art of consultative selling, but more importantly, he honed leadership skills like empathy, service, commitment, sacrifice, and grit.
What he didn't realize is how valuable these skills would be in order to overcome stumbling blocks in his personal life, the courage to stand up for those who can't, and what would ultimately be the catalyst to fight for change within a broken system.
